We are sure that many will agree that the ability to grow a beard is a sign of physical maturity in men. This physical maturity is associated with age and manhood.
In fact, a study even demonstrated that men with (neatly trimmed) beards were associated with higher social status, power and maturity by both men and women.
If you want to see the evidence for this, all you need to do is turn on the television or open social media on your phone. The Afflecks, Gyllenhaals and Clooneys are turning up to red carpet events sporting their well manicured and meticulously groomed beards.
It is no surprise then that the ISHR (International Society of Hair Restoration) is reporting year on year increases in the number of men undergoing beard transplant surgery.
So what exactly is beard transplant surgery?
Well, not unlike hair transplant surgery, beard transplant surgery involves moving hair from areas of high density (such as the back of your head) to areas where you’d like that boost in manlihood on your face.
The technique is the same that is used for hair transplant procedures and on average, 250-750 grafts are usually placed during a single day session:
It is conducted under sedation and with the use of local anaesthetic, thus providing a comfortable and mostly painless experience for the client.
After a short period of healing (5-10 days), the hairs usually falls off (not the root) and begin growing a few months later. The full result takes about 8-10 months to show.
You can continue to maintain/trim/shave your beard, as you did in the past. No specific or further treament is required.
The surgical technique and instruments used are pivotal in achieving a natural looking and permanent result. We thus urge you to chose your studio wisely!
